McDonald’s Quarter Pounders were linked to an E. coli outbreak with 49 total cases, including one death and 10 hospitalizations, the CDC announced on Oct. 22. A McDonald's executive said the outbreak "may be linked to slivered onions used in the Quarter Pounder."
