The American flag sitting atop of the White House was lowered to half-staff following Donald Trump's inauguration to honor the late former President Jimmy Carter. According to U.S. flag code, 'all federal buildings, grounds and naval vessels' will fly at half-staff for 30 days after the death of a president.
