1 Dead, 4 Hikers Rescued in Heat-Related Medical Emergency in Arizona's Gold Canyon

Authorities responded to a rescue alert for five hikers at the Superstition Mountains, located about 40 miles east of Phoenix, at around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, the Superstition Fire & Medical District stated in a news release. One hiker died as temperatures soared to nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the area.
