After the winner of the Miss New York 2025 pageant Mina Liang resigned from her title just days after the pageant in July, Cassie Donegan, first runner up, took over the title. However, when Cassie Donegan went on to compete in Miss America, ultimately taking home the title on Sept. 7, a new Miss New York was needed once again.
